Federal Government, Labour Union Came into Agreement

........federal Government,  Labour Unions  Agreed on the following.  i) The Federal Government has announced N25,000 only as provisional wage increment for all treasury-paid federal government workers for six months. ii) The Federal Government is committed to fast-tracking the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease public transportation difficulties associated with the removal of PMS subsidy. iii) The Federal Government commits to the provision of funds for micro and small-scale enterprises. iv) VAT on diesel will be waived for the next 6 months. v) The Federal Government will commence payment of N75,000 to 15 million households at N25,000 per month, for a three-month period  from October-December 2023. LABOUR SHUNS FG MEETING, LAST MINUTE MOVE TO AVERT STRIKE FAILS

............𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘀 𝗙𝗚 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 The organised labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trace Union Congress, Nigeria, on Friday, boycotted an emergency meeting with the Federal Government that was scheduled for 3pm at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Federal Government had called an emergency meeting with the leaders of the organised labour at the Conference Room of the Office of the President’s Chief of Staff. Among other goals, Friday’s meeting was meant to talk the labour movement out of its planned nationwide strike from Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Grants 6 use of water liences to Kano State-FG

  The Federal Government has granted six water use licences to the Kano State Water Board through the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) , according to a press statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the commission’s head of public relations, Mrs Getrude Madina. The statement quoting Mr Magashi Bashir, Executive director, NIWRMC, said the licenses were to enable the State access, officially extract water, and to aid them expand water wells, and improve water supply to the Nigeria Bottling Company from the Challawa Plant. By law, the Commission has been mandated to issue licenses for water use, as well as regulate water resources in Nigeria, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. “The licensing of various water users is necessary and important to the nation at a time like this when the Government is up-scaling revenue generation and job creation, among others,” the statement stated.
